I’m reposting this from May 15, 2015 because, almost a year later, it still rings so true in my heart. |
Psalm 61:2 has always been one of my favorite verses. I love the way the Amplified version says it: From the end of the earth will I cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed and fainting; lead me to the rock that is higher than I [yes, a rock that is too high for me].
It can be so easy to let our hearts get overwhelmed. Sometimes by everyday life. Sometimes by the calling and vision that God has placed on our lives. When we take our eyes off of God, everything that is bigger than us starts to look REALLY scary. But when we keep our eyes on God, everything else seems so small in comparison.
Lately I’ve been praying this verse and changing the word ‘I’ to ‘everything.’ When my heart is overwhelmed and fainting, lead me to the Rock that is higher than Everything. There is nothing TOO big for God. There is nothing AS big as God.
My strongest fear, my greatest struggle, even my biggest dream… God is bigger than it all.
Jesus tells us in Mark 10:27 “With men [it is] impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.”
If God has placed a vision in your life that terrifies you, good. That means that you can’t accomplish it yourself and God will get all of the glory.
Our dreams and visions should always scare us, but they will never scare God.
