I was sitting outside, studying and drinking a hot cup of tea, when I spontaneously started praying, “Open the eyes of my heart, Lord. I want to see You.”
I just couldn’t seem to stop praying that phrase so I turned on the worship song. As I sat with my eyes closed, praying those lyrics, the most gentle, calming breeze swept across my face. I opened my eyes and flower blossoms from a nearby tree floated dreamily through the air.
This might not seem so significant to you, but here’s why it is to me:
A few years ago, I went for a walk one very hot, dry day, and as I prayed about some very hard things, I asked God to please just show me that He was there. Immediatly, a gentle, calming breeze swept across my face and Psalm 104:3-4 played through my mind, “…making the clouds His chariot, walking on the wings of the wind, and making the winds His messengers…”
Since that day, God has made Himself known to me most when I am outside, feeling the wind. In this moment when I prayed, “God, I want to see You,” He made Himself known and visible.
Have you ever had an experience like this with God? If so, I would love to hear about it! If not, He is just a prayer away.
I heard something so profound last week, “You’re just as close as the mention of Your name. So we say, Jesus.”
Just say Jesus. Just whisper His name. Jesus never leaves a cry for His nearness unanswered. He longs to open the eyes of your heart so that you can see Him like you never have before.
